Short answer

Talk with a healthcare professional when hard waking persists despite enough sleep, or comes with loud snoring, gasping, headaches, very long sleep, or dangerous daytime sleepiness.

You don't have to earn help by trying every alarm

If you regularly sleep through loud alarms, need another person to shake you awake, or feel unable to function for hours, the problem deserves more than another ringtone. Especially note snoring, pauses in breathing, morning headaches, restless legs, vivid sleep attacks, and unplanned daytime sleep.

Write down sleep times, medications, alcohol or substances, symptoms, and what other people observe. Bring that to a primary-care or sleep professional. Don't stop prescribed medicine on your own.

Know the urgent part

Don't drive or do hazardous work when you can't stay awake. Seek urgent help for sudden confusion, breathing trouble, fainting, or other severe symptoms. The cost of being late isn't greater than the cost of pretending you are safe.

Riso may help while you arrange care by making dismissal more deliberate. It isn't a treatment. Needing medical help isn't evidence that you failed to build a strict enough morning.
